Now more than ever it is imperative that we strive to find brands, products and entertainment that show the world we are the change. In a world were follow’s && like’s give you clout and transparency is wanted not only in business but also in our personal lives, it matters what we do with our resources.

We as a society have a new power that past generations never had, social media. Here at TWG we are passionate about using this power for good. We have round up a few folks and brands that we think you should check out, follow and support!

Kevin Abstract

Clifford Ian Simpson aka Kevin Abstract is an American rapper, singer-songwriter & director. His debut album in 2014, MTV1987, gained attention from a large number of credited music blogs as well as several magazines publications. Abstract has had many projects over the years, including a few singles and a music video. Many of his early projects were funded by his fans which is a testament to how his music and artistic eye has truly touched the LGBTQ+ & POC communities. In 2016 American Boyfriend: A Suburban Love Story, was released. This album gives us a peak into Kevin’s history, pain & love. The most current album, ARIZONA BABY, was released in 2019. If you are looking for an R&B artist that is unapologetically themselves, look no further.

Nicholas Alexander

Nicholas Alexander is not your average social media model. This 29-y/o is a painter, tattoo artist, graphic designer and photographer. Recently featured in Out magazine, Alexander is all about giving back especially to young minds. One of his current projects is a children’s book called The Tomorrowers. His goal with this book and those looking up to him? Simple, “to be an inspiration to the younger generation through my art and storytelling. I want to have my own cartoon series that shows kids of all backgrounds exploring their imagination and being their true selves proudly.” This is something I hope we all can say we hope for. I think we can look forward to seeing more from him and hopefully the minds he is able to inspire.

Stuzo Clothing

Stoney Michelli, CEO & Founder of Stuzo Clothing, is a woman ahead of her time. Don’t be fooled by the location of this gender free streetwear brand, it may be in LA but it’s heart is in NYC. The mission of Stuzo Clothing is to create space in the fashion world where all are welcome without judgment. Stoney is a Renaissance woman, not only is she a Graphic Designer and an Actor, she is a Photographer as well. A graduate of Briarcliffe College with a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts, Stoney grew up in The Bronx NY and moved the LA in 2010 (which was one of her dreams). Celebrities such as Ruby Rose, Tiffany Haddish, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Spike Lee are some of the few that have rocked Stuzo Clothing. This brand knows what is means to make space for love.

Rebirth Garments

Rebirth Garments is an inspiring clothing line designed and hand made by Sky Cubacub. Sky is a nonbinary queer and disabled Filipinx human from Chicago, IL with life long anxiety and panic disorders. Rebirth Garment’s mission is to create gender non-conforming wearables and accessories for people on the full spectrum of gender, size and ability. The use of color and the ability to create these master pieces custom, not just to a persons body but to how their soul feels, is proof that true beauty still does exist.

Otherwild General

Otherwild General or OWG, is a queer-owned company that works with many types of brands, artists and designers. The thing is though, your product better be sustainable and up cycled in some way. Otherwild has based ethics at the center of it business practices and mission. These values include supporting artists and designers with shared values and concerns at the core of their practice; dedication to fair wages and labor practices, researching/changing/ensuring that exploitation and destruction do not define the chain of production. With a company so transparent and it’s need to know the who, what, when, where and why of all their products, shows this company truly cares about us and the Earth.

We hope these artists and brands have given you something to think about and maybe even inspire you to go out and be the change you want to see.

Stay safe and remember we are all human.
